Several Hawaii blogs and Hawaiian blogs claim to be the best Hawaii blog or best Hawaiian blog, but I would be perfectly happy just to have a good blog from Hawaii.
In my opinion, a good blog has all original content and is interesting or useful to the reader in some way. A good blog also needs to have frequent posts. I post 5-7 times per week, but I am striving to post daily.
I consider a good blogger to be responsive to her readers. I send a thank you email to first time commenters, and respond to comments that appear on my blog post to keep the conversation going.
Currently I have only a handful of readers, but they read my blog regularly and leave comments. Also many have become my friends, which has been a pleasant added bonus! This makes me keep trying to do better, and most importantly, not to give up.
As I am still fairly new to blogging (it's only been about 3 months), please share comments about what you consider to be a good blog or blogger.

I think you are a great blogger!
I agree with you that it is important for bloggers to interact with their readers in comments.
I like blogs that show the personality and passion of the blogger. They are sincere and have the desire to inform, entertain, or help.
I read a good post yesterday at Daily Blog Tips advising that it is important for a blogger to be humble. So I'm not sure that calling a blog the best of any kind is showing an humble spirit. What do you think?

Mahalo Sheila for the compliment. I agree that it is not being humble to say that you are the best, but I think some blogs just use that word as a marketing ploy to get new readers. However, if you are not the best, or at least good, those readers will not come back.

I agree you are an excellent blogger! You have interesting and informative content in your stories, you post regularly, and you have helpful links on your sidebar. And you comment on other people's blogs, which brings them back to yours and makes it feel like a community. Keep doing what you're doing and more and more people will read your blog.

Mahalo Mauigirl! I know what you mean about it feeling like a community, I don't tend to revisit blogs that don't contact me in some way so I know they responded to my comment or visited my blog and left a comment in return. Before I started I didn't realize just how much interaction with other people having a blog allowed. It's great, I now have blogging friends!
