More controversy for Hawaii. Do you dream of vacationing in Hawaii with Mickey Mouse and the gang, or does the idea of it make you nauseous?
Today Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced that they will build a resort at Ko Olina on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands by 2011. The resort will feature hotel rooms and villas for the Disney Vacation Club, a time-share division of Disney resorts. Hawaii has the distinction of being the only Disney resort that will not be attached to one of its theme parks.
"This resort hotel will give our guests another way to visit an exciting part of the world with a brand they trust," Walt Disney Parks and Resort Chairman Jay Rasulo said in a written statement. "We are looking forward to building a special family resort that honors the cultural diversity of Hawaii and reflects the spirit of aloha that makes this location so unique."

I can't put my finger on why I don't want Disney there, but for some reason, I don't.
Disney is everywhere, though! I'm kind of surprised they've not already had a presence in beautiful Hawaii.

When I was a kid growing up in Hawaii, the other children and I all wanted a Disneyland theme park in Hawaii. Thank goodness that never happened! I think Disney tends to commodify and dilute culture so that in times generalizations about people are further supported as truth.

Hawaii’s natural and diverse scenery, warm tropical climate, abundance of public beaches and oceanic surrounding, and active volcanoes alone is one of the best place everyone should not missed to visit. The island of Hawaii is the popular destination for tourists, surfers, biologists, and volcanologists alike. So great if the Hawaii Disney resort plans will be acted soon!

Magnificent! What a great news! Oahu is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands and most populous of the islands in the State of Hawaiʻi. This is a perfect place for a resort and am certain more people will be attracted to Hawaii Disney.

Wow! That's cool I love to spend my vacation there this summer. Is there any available packages that's affordable for a two person only?
